Summer / hot season (from March to May)
During these months it gets extremely hot at times, with daytime temperatures of 35-40 ° Celsius. Also for the Thais this season is very exhausting and they are looking forward to any cooling off. Every year on the 13th of April the Sonkran Festival (Water Festival, traditional Thai New Year) takes place. Here, the participants splash with water and it is celebrated hilariously. After this time, the water is scarce due to the high heat and the agriculture stands still. The summer is very well suited for the beach holiday

Rainy season / green season (June to October)
Rainy season does not mean that it only rains the whole day. On many days this can be just a heavy shower of 30 minutes or 1-2 hours - and the rest of the day the sun will shine again. The rainy season announces high humidity and varies in different regions. On the west coast (regions around Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak, Ko Lanta, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Yao) the rainfall falls on average (20-22 days on average). Here the sea is no longer suitable for swimming, as strong currents can occur. On the east coast (Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Khanom, Chumphon, Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan) it rains much less (15 days on average, but in October and November 20 days on average). The sea is calm on the east coast and you can swim in spite of the monsoon season mostly (on the flagging on the beaches is still to be respected). Therefore, families with children who are dependent on the holiday season in the summer months should prefer the East Coast as a tourist destination. In the north (Chiang Mai, Chang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Phitsonulok, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphang Phet) the rainy season begins at the end of June, while in northeastern Thailand (Isaan) it ends in September. Central Thailand (Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Trat and Koh Chang), the Thai East Coast, as well as north and northeast Thailand are very easy to travel during the rainy season. For nature and plant lovers, the rainy season is the best time to travel, as the vegetation is in full bloom. However, the number of mosquitoes and mosquitoes is increasing and you have to be careful enough. It should also be noted that due to the Rauhen See ferry and Speedbot connections are set in whole or in part. Particularly affected here are the islands of the Andaman Sea, but occasionally also Koh Tao and Koh Phangan!

Winter / the cool season (November to February / March)
The cooler season starts at the end of the year. In northern Thailand, this time lasts from November to March and it can cool off considerably at nights. For holidays in northern Thailand, it is advisable to bring long clothes and a jacket / hoodie. In the rest of Thailand, the daytime temperatures are between 25 and 35 ° C and at night it cools only slightly. This is the driest time of the year on the West Coast, Central Thailand and Northern Thailand, with the months of October and November being the rainiest months on the East Coast (20 rainy days on average). The cool season is considered the best time to travel to Thailand. Especially around the Christmas holidays, New Year's Eve and Carnival it is very full. Hotels and flights are the most expensive at this time of the year.
