Prachuap Khiri Khan is located just off the main connecting road (A 4) from north and central Thaiand to the south.
The border with Myanmar (formerly Burma) is only about 20 - 30 km (depending on the itinerary) away. This is where the Tenasserim mountain range extends,
which you can already see from the border station on the Singkhorn pass. The border crossing with passport location was only opened in 2013. Prachuap Khiri Khan
is easily accessible by car or train from Bangkok.
Prachuap Khiri Khan is located in the Gulf of Thailand and offers its visitors beautiful, natural sandy beaches.
Along the beaches and around city center you can find some hotels for each budget.
Prachuap Khiri Khan does not have an airport. The closest airports are in Hua Hin and Chumphon. The airport of Hua Hin is very small: There are only 3 x weekly flights of Kan Air on the route Hua Hin - Chiang Mai. All other flights were stopped. From Chumphon fly the companies NOK Air and Solar Air from Bangkok. Arrivals from Overseas or Germany take place via Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

Transfer to the hotel in Prachuap Khiri Khan and transportation
within the city:
Within Prachuap Khiri Khan there are
numerous ways to get around.
Viewpoint:
The Temple Mount Khao Chong
Krajok (Mirror Mountain), located on the outskirts of Prachuap Khiri Khan, offers breathtaking views of the city. At the foot of the temple throngs of wild macaques (monkeys) live, which can be fed.
Here is also a monkey monument. Over 396 steps you reach a viewing platform, from which you
have a dream view over the coastline and the city. On the platform is a cottage with a lucky
bell. It is said that if you ring the bell 3 times, happiness increases! Nearby is also a shady pavilion, which invites to a small rest. Likewise, here is a small wat, which is permanently inhabited by monks.
The city pillar
"Lak Mueang" (Ghost Town) is located in the middle of the city in a park-shaped complex.
The fishing port of Prachuap Khiri Khan is very idyllic. A visit is especially worthwhile in the morning, when the fishing boats return with
their catch. Then there is a lot going on here.
Wat Khan Bandai: Approx. 8 km outside the city
center of Prachuap Khiri Khan, in Ao Khan Bandai (also called Ao Khan Kradai), there is a cave temple with a reclining Buddha statue. There are several relics and statues in several buildings and caves. Khan Bandai is connected to the railways and there is a railway station.
Phraya Nakhon
Cave: The Phraya Nakhon Cave is about halfway between Hua Hin and Prachuap Khiri Khan (60 km away). This is located near a small bay (beach
Leam Sala), from which one has a view of the island Koh Khi Nok and Koh Sattakut. To get to this headland one
arrives at calm sea with a boat.
Otherwise you have to take a detour in purchasing: From the park bungalows in Bang Pu on the beach it goes for about 20 minutes steeply uphill over a stony, dried up stream and then again 15
minutes steeply down into the cave. The cave is located in Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park. The park covers an area of almost 100 square kilometers. About the place Bang Pu one reaches the entrance to the cave. Here is a
beautiful pavilion. Through the collapsed cave ceiling in the morning, the
sun's rays hit the pavilion.
Khao Sam
Roi Yot National Park: The National Park covers an area of almost 100 square kilometers, stretching from the interior of the country to the coast. On the coastline are mangrove swamps. The western part of the park is used by shrimp farms with freshwater marshes.
Unfortunately, just through the shrimp farms, a strong depletion of nature takes place, because here areas are artificially dry and through sewers of Aufzucktbecken high pollution with drugs and
antibiotics takes place. The park is still worth seeing, as there are many rare
plant species. Also, many, very rare
species (including leopards, lorises, Bänder linsangs, different species of monkeys and different large water birds) can be found here.
The most famous beach Prachuap Khiri Khan is Hua
Hin. This beach is very touristy and has its own section here with Cha Am
in the blog. In the district of Prachuap Khiri Khan there are many more beaches to
explore.
The beach section Ao Manao is situated in
an idyllic bay at the ends of which mountain ranges run into the sea. The military checkpoint "Wing 5"
leads to the water. The beach is very natural and is often visited by Thais. At the beach stalls you can buy cool drinks, food and bath accessories. Also can be rented beach chairs and umbrellas. Here are also some wild langurs and rare eyewear monkeys that can be fed with
fruit.
The Laem Sala Beach is located in the Sam Roi
Yot Natimalpark, about 16 km from the park administration. The Sam Phraya beach is located about 3.5 km north of the park headquarters
and is lined with pine trees.
In the Thap Sakae district,
about 75 km from Prachuap Khiri Khan, you will find the scenic Mae Ramphueng Beach and Bo Thonglang Beach. This is also preceded by the
islands of Koh Sang, Koh Thalu and Koh Sing, which can be reached by boat from Pak Khiong, 3 km east of Bang Saphan.
Ban Krut Beach is halfway between Bang Saphan and Thap Sakae.
You have a fantastic view from the Thong Chai hill at the northern end of the bay.
Here is also a large Buddha statue.
