Phang-Nga

Phang-Nga: The region offers beautiful landscapes and small villages. Next to the James Bond Rock there are some worth seeingpoints and temples. From Samet Nangshe Viewpoint, which is located on a hill, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the bay of Phang-Nga. Here you can stay in simple cabins (500 THB) or tents (350 THB). In the Ao Phang-Nga National Park, there are on a total area of about 400 km² u.a. Mangroves, monkeys and various species of birds can be seen.

Getting there

Below the viewpoint is a parking lot. If you arrive here by scooter or a non-roadworthy vehicle, then it is advisable to park the vehicle here. The ascent to the Viewpoint runs over a very steep, unpaved road. Optionally, you can venture on foot the climb (very, very exhausting) or you can comfortably start up with a pick-up truck. The ride costs 30 THB per person. The view from the Viewpoint is overwhelming: you look over mangrove forests in the Phang Nga bay on numerous offshore islands. These include Koh La Na, Ko Phra Wat Noi, Koh Sawang, Koh Na Khae, Koh Thalu, Khao Phing Khan (James Bond Island) and Hong Island, to name but a few. Getingelt there from the Sarasin Bridge in Phuket, the viewpoint on the shortest route is about 25 km away. Just follow Highway 402 to Baan Tha Nun and follow the signs to Phang Nga (Route 3086). 

From Khao Lak, the distance is just under 80 km. Here you follow Highway 4 towards Phuket. In the village of Lo Yung, change to Route 1004 towards Takua Thung.
