Koh Yao Noi is located in the southern Phang Nga Bay between the provinces of Phuket and Krabi. From the mainland, the island is 42 km away and can be easily reached by boat or ferry from Phuket and Krabi. Koh Yao Noi is slightly smaller and less developed than its larger neighbor Koh Yao Yai. The island stands for nature-loving travel away from mass tourism. The most famous two islands of the Koh Yao archipelago are Koh Yao Noi ("small, long island") and Koh Yao Yai ("big, narrow island"). Between the two islands Longtails and you can drive depending on the beach and distance for about 20 THB per person on the other island. Here you will find deserted dream beaches and can experience breathtaking sunsets in a dreamlike setting. The islands are sparsely populated and you can enjoy original village life, fruit and rubber plantations, small fishing ports and beautiful nature. There are 4 ATM machines on the island: one at Klong Jark Beach and another 3 in the village of Sapan Yao (near the Sapan Yao Pier). In Sapan Yao there is also a 7/11 market.

The two Koh Yao islands mainly offer bungalow facilities along the beaches. From simple accommodation to the luxury hostel, everything is represented. The beaches are very quiet and perfect for a relaxing holiday in a fantastic setting. On Koh Yao Noi especially the beaches of the south and east coast are developed.

The island of Koh Yao Noi is located east of Phuket in Phang Nga Bay. Despite its proximity to Phuket, the island officially belongs to the administration of Phang Nga Province and not to Phuket. There are several ways to travel by ferry or speedboat to the island.

Those who wish to travel directly from the airport Phuket have to go to Bang Rong Pier and from there by boat to Koh Yao Noi. The boats leave every hour and a ride costs from 120 THB.
 
Airport transfer from Phuket to Bang Rong Pier:
The airport transfer is regulated in Phuket. For about 800 Bath / Car you can get to Bang Rong Pier from Phuket Airport in about 40 minutes (depending on traffic). There are no price negotiations with the taxi drivers, because the taxi tickets are still issued in the airport building, just before the exit, and the fixed price is charged depending on the destination. There you will receive a receipt and can then board the booked taxi or minibus / van. Depending on the time of day, speedboats, longtails and slightly larger ships operate from Bang Rong Pier. With the speedboat the crossing takes about 45 minutes. With the longtails and speedboats just over 1 hour. The speedboat costs about 250 THB. (If traveling by car or scooter, you will be charged another 10 THB car parking fee.) The boats run every hour between 7.35 and 17.40. Arrival is at Manoh Pier in southern Koh Yao Nois. Our personal favorite is the long tail boat. How to get comfortable on Koh Yao Noi. The ride is very quiet and costs only 120 THB.

Arrival from Phuket (with own / rented car):
You can not take a rental car with you to Koh Yao Noi. There is no public car ferry. You can take a scooter on a longtail boat.

On Koh Yao Noi there are other piers (Sukha Pier, Sapan Yao Pier, Tha Tondo Pier) on the evt. Vehicles come to the island. We have no timetables for these piers. (still to be researched ...)

Hotel transfer on Koh Yao Noi:
If you have booked a hotel in advance, you will be picked up on request at the pier. Also available are scooters, which can be rented directly at the pier. Per scooter you pay between 250-300 THB. The hotels offer mountain bikes, bicycles and canoes for rent.

Arrival from Bangkok:

• Arriving from Bangkok by plane is possible with either Bangkok Airways or another local airline (PB Air, Thai AirAsia, NokAir, Thai Airways, etc.).
• The journey by land is e.g. Possible from Bangkok to Phuket or Krabi with the so-called "VIP Bus" or "Aircon Bus" and takes between 13 and 16 hours depending on traffic. Due to the air conditioning, it gets really cold in the buses. It is best to take a warm sweater or jacket with you for the ride. There are 3 different buses at the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok:

1. Standard buses (orange) with approx. 75-80 seats (280 THB = approx. 7.- EUR) (the bus stops in different locations)
2. Aircon buses (blue) with approx. 40 seats (600 THB = approx. 15.- EUR)
3. VIP buses (inscription "VIP Bus 999") with approx. 24 seats (895 THB = approx. 25.- EUR)

Arrival from Koh Samui / Koh Phangan / Koh Tao:
Here it is advisable to book a ticket in one of the small travel agencies that are found everywhere in the tourist centers. The travel price includes a pick-up service directly from the hotel. The mini bus continues to the pier and from there by boat / ferry to Surat Thani. From Surat Thani, take the minibus to the Bang Rong Pier in Phuket. From the pier, take the ferry to Koh Yao Noi.

Arrival from mainland Tailand (Krabi):
From Thalane Pier in Krabi run several longtails and speed boats between 9.00 and 17.30 clock to the east Tha Khao Pier on Koh Yao Noi. The trip to Koh Yao Noi takes about 45 minutes with the longtails, the speedboat takes about 30 minutes.

From Ao Nang Beach at Krabi (Nopparat Thara Pier), several speedboats depart daily from 11.40am to 4.40pm to Tha Khao Pier on Koh Yao Noi. (Times: 11:40, 14:00, 16:00 and 16:40)

From Koh Phi Phi daily at 15.00 clock a speedboat to the Tha Khao Pier on Koh Yao Noi.

Arrival from mainland Tailand (for example Khao Lak, Pattaya, Hua Hin):
Again, you can book the pick-up service directly from the hotel again. With the mini bus it goes on to the respective bus station and from there with the VIP bus to the Bang Rong Pier in Phuket. From the pier, take the ferry to Koh Yao Noi.

Also, the Khao Lak - Phuket and Krabi - Phuket routes are also served by public buses. Here the fare is much cheaper, but is stopped at many stops. The bus stops at the bus terminal in Phuket Town. From here it is best with a TukTuk or taxi on to the Bang Rong Pier. From the pier, take the ferry to Koh Yao Noi.

Generally applies to all boat connections that time information is without guarantee. Smaller islands are often approached only in the main season (November - May), because the sea has high waves, especially in the rainy season. Even during the main season, individual connections may u.U. also due to weather conditions.

As far as the choice of speed boat or long tail boat is concerned, everyone has to make that decision themselves. Most of the time difference is only 15 minutes. We prefer the longtail variant, as the crossings are much calmer and more comfortable. Also, much less gas is consumed, clearly a plus for our environment. And by the way, the rides in Longtail are on average more than half cheaper!

On Koh Yao Noi there is a lot of nature to discover. The beaches of the west coast are mostly inhabited by locals and fishermen. Here are idyllic little houses, partly on stilts in the water and along the beaches. There are a few accommodations and restaurants here.

Mainly on the east coast, the tourist life takes place with some accommodations and restaurants. Here you will find yoga, spa and massage as well as various small shops and Touranbierter.

Between the islands of Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai there are longtail boats. From Baan Laemai you can drive to Hua Lam Haad Beach on Koh Yao Yai. The journey takes only about 10 minutes and costs per person from 20 THB.

The most beautiful beaches stretch on the east coast of the island.

At Yao Beach / Long Beach is the Coral Nature Conservation, a coral protection center.

At the Thakao Beach is located next to the pier and a very beautiful beach with a fantastic view in the direction of Krabi. Here is the island of Koh Nui upstream. In good weather you have a view of the islands around Koh Phak Bia. Ban Thakhao has a few resorts

Further south is Klong Jark Beach. Again, you have a beautiful view of offshore islands. This beach has the most accommodation and restaurants and there is an ATM machine.

From Pasai Beach you have a view of Koh Hong and with good visibility to Krabi. From here you can take boat tours to the offshore islands. On the beach you can dine in local restaurants and enjoy the beautiful view.

At Lom Lae Beach you have a beautiful view of Koh Nok. From here boat trips and snorkeling trips to Koh Nok can be made.
