The dream island of Koh Kood (or Koh Kut written) is located in the eastern part of the Gulf of Thailand, not far from the Cambodian border. From the mainland in Trat Koh Kood is about 40 km away. From the south coast of the island Koh Chang is only about 30 km. The island belongs to the province of Trat and has a total area of about 113.5 km ². The center of the island is overgrown with tropical forests and palm trees. Here are some smaller mountains and elevations and small rivers and waterfalls. The beaches are beautiful and very quiet. The island offers a natural flair with a very relaxed atmosphere. Nightlife, shopping and bustle are in vain: a part of the island is used by the inhabitants agricultural, especially with rubber and coconut plantations. The rest of the population lives from fishing. Along the beaches are some bungalow resorts. For a visit to Koh Kood, it makes sense to book a hotel in advance or to know which beach or in which area you want to stay. There are no public transport or taxis on the island. The boat tickets include a transfer to the hotel. Scooters (scooters) or bicycles can be hired in the hotels.
Koh Kood is the perfect island for nature lovers. Kayaks are available for tours and the crystal clear waters of the sea are great for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
Currently (as of February 2019) there are only 2 ATM machines to withdraw money as well as several small shops with currency exchange offices. A Kungsri Bank vending machine is located in Klong Chao right next to the Sea Dogs Restaurant! The 2nd ATM is located outside the Government Savings Bank at RO Pho Cho Trat 4107 Road. However, not all (European) credit cards are accepted at Government Savings Bank! That's why we recommend taking enough cash for the stay!
Along the beaches and in small villages there are some overnight accommodations. The price range
extends from hostels in the low budget range over middle class rooms up to the absolute luxury class. The Soneva Kiri Hotel is one of Thailand's most exclusive
hotels on this small island. Supposedly, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have spent the night there.
Our favorite, however, is located in the middle of the island near the Huang Nam Keaw waterfall. There is a small homestay resort with 2 idyllic bungalows in
the middle of a small orchard. The resort has a small restaurant with a food stall. The food was fantastic, with homemade fruit shakes and
smoothies!

Koh Kood is a very quiet and natural island. If you are looking for shopping and nightlife, this is wrong. To explore there are especially some
beautiful beaches and a beautiful underwater world. Local tourbearers (BB Divers for example) and longtail riders can take tours to neighboring islands.
Beaches:
The most popular beaches include Klong Chao Beach and Tapao Beach. Here are the most resorts and also some restaurants and beach bars. From 22.00 o'clock prevails however also in the high season
only little enterprise here.
Temple:
At Ao Salad Pier is a small temple. From here you can get a nice overview of different bays and the harbor. There is also a small fishing village.
Water falls:
There are several beautiful waterfalls scattered around the island as well as some nature trails with extraordinary jungle plants. Especially beautiful is the Klong Chao waterfall. Here can be
bathed in a large pool. Also, the Huang Nam Keaw waterfall is beautifully located. Over 2 large stone steps here the water falls into a natural pool, where you can also bathe.
In the area around Makayut-Saiyai there is a beautiful jungle in which some very old primeval forest giants stand. Among other things, there is a 500-year-old mammoth tree here. The area is
located near the Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall.
roads:
The roads are mostly paved, so that experienced scooter riders get along well here. Nevertheless, you should drive carefully, as potholes and sand are in many places on the road. More remote
beaches can only be reached by sandy paths!

Koh Kood offers beautiful, partly natural beaches in almost every bay. The most popular beaches include Klong Chao Beach and Tapao Beach. Here are the most resorts and also some restaurants and beach bars. From 22.00 o'clock prevails however also in the high season only little enterprise here. We really liked the Bang Bao Beach. Here a long boardwalk leads into the crystal-clear water. There are some excellent snorkeling opportunities around the jetty.
