Luggage & Travel pharmacy

Before the trip you should check all the travel documents again. Tickets and booking confirmations should be carried in hand luggage and, if necessary, the corresponding documents stored on the mobile phone (or under Dropbox, Icloud or similar). The passport must be checked before departure, for Thailand, this must be valid for at least 6 months. In addition, it is useful in addition to take a copy of the passport.

You should also think about travel health insurance. This costs at most providers about 10, - € and is valid for a whole year.

For longer trips, it is equally important to plan exactly what you can pack in your suitcase. For one thing, there are nerds in the airplane. These are slightly different for the individual airlines. Normally you can take on scheduled flights between 20 and 25 KG per person (plus carry-on luggage) without any additional charge. On the other hand, it is important, especially in tropical countries, to take along a small first aid kit.

Also what is taken in hand luggage, should be well thought out. For one or the other suitcases or backpack has just landed in Nirvana when it comes to connecting flights.

carry-on baggage / hand luggage

  • Laptop / tablet / camera / mobile phone
  • papers / documents
  • Carry-on baggage should generally carry all important documents, money, credit cards and valuables.
  • For camera and Co. you should use a waterproof bag (for example, Oceanpack), as the luggage can get wet when crossing the islands in the boat.
  • If you like it, you can also bring your bathing suit and / or fresh underwear and a fresh T-shirt for the first day. Then you are in the event that the luggage is lost, at least a bit armed.
  • For cosmetics, perfumes, shower products, lotions and all liquids, it is generally accepted that only limited quantities may be carried in hand luggage. Each container is limited to the amount of 100 ml and must be stored in a transparent 1 liter plastic bag / bag. Per person 1 liter total is allowed. If a perfume e.g. 150 ml, it will be accepted at check-in security check! The situation is different for perfumes and spirits from duty-free. If these are sealed by Duty Free and are kept together with a receipt, they can easily be carried in hand luggage.
  • Scissors, nail files, tweezers, knives and all sharp objects generally have nothing to look for in your hand luggage!

travel luggage

Backpack or suitcase ?
Our preferred luggage is our XL trekking backpacks. The advantage of the backpacks is the very large capacity. Some backpacks are equipped with a detachable daypack (smaller backpack) and a detachable hipbag (belt pouch) or luggage straps and straps to attach additional trekking accessories. And the biggest advantage of backpacks is that you can easily carry them on your back (this is perfect if you have to travel longer with luggage or if you need to travel by scooter from the airport to the hotel, etc.)

Before leaving, you should plan what you would like to do on holiday. If you want to do a trekking tour, sturdy shoes are indispensable and if you want to snorkel, you need your snorkeling glasses.

In any case, you should definitely take swimwear, flip-flops, underwear, 1-2 shorts or skirts, 5 T-shirts, shirts or blouses, 1 finer outfit and a thin jacket or hoodie with you.

As a general rule, you can buy just about anything in Thailand if you have forgotten something. Clothes can be washed well and cheaply. So it's not worth traveling to Thailand with a suitcase or backpack filled to the brim!

Generally, one should dress appropriately: At temple visits at least knee-length pants / skirts must be worn and shoulders and upper body must be covered. In the temples Wat Phra Kaeo and Royal Palace (Grand Palace) in Bangkok, the Summer Palace (Phra Thinang Aisawan Thippayat) at Bang Pa (Ayutthaya), the Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahatat in Phitsanulok and the mountain temple Wat Phra That Doi Suthep at Chiang Mai Long clothing (long-sleeved tops and long pants) and closed shoes are worn. These sites are among the most important cultural institutions in the country!

If you go to eat or in a village on the way, you should generally wear a top and do not walk around in swimming trunks!
